A nice and simple flight from Birmingham (UK) to Ibiza (Spain). Bit of bad weather on departure but a superb flight for the rest of the way, except for a slight bit of turbulence once over the Pyrenees between France and Spain.
Flying a Jet 2 Airways Boeing 737-800 on one of the airline’s real-world routes, the flight is one that can be seen departing Birmingham several times a week, served by several airlines.
Ibiza is a Spanish island in the Balearic archipelago located in the Mediterranean, that is popular with sun-seeking tourists, and aficionado’s of dance music.
Flying from Birmingham to Ibiza is generally conducted in around 2 hours, and is seen as one of the ideal distances for the package holiday market which caters for families with small children.
Outbound Flight to Ibiza (EGBB to LEIB)
The outbound flight was operated in real-time, although not fixed to a real-world schedule. The flight left Birmingham in the early afternoon.
The flight passed without issue, routing over the English Channel, Central France and then briefly over mainland Spain, before heading out over the Mediterranean and on course for the Balearic’s.
The arrival into Ibiza is from the south-side of the island, which effectively means flying past the island to then turn around and make an approach to the runway.

Inbound Flight (LEIB to EGBB)
As with the outbound flight, the inbound leg was conducted in real-time, but not in accordance with the actual flight schedule of Jet2 Airways.
Departure from Ibiza Airport is invariably heading northbound towards the mainland of Spain, which is ideal for airlines from mainland Europe, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Just prior to crossing over the Spanish coast, heading roughly north, the routing of this particular flight took the aircraft directly over Reus airport, which is another destination served by numerous operators from Birmingham airport. It is also becoming a very popular airport for the tourism market wishing to access the Spanish coasts around the city of Barcelona, without using that city’s main airports.
As with the outbound flight, the return leg went without issue, and was a smooth flight all the way back to Birmingham.
Similarly, the inbound flight came in at around the two-hour mark, just as the outbound flight had.
