The EU is Attempting to Annex Northern Ireland

The news this morning that German Chancellor Angela Merkel told Boris Johnson that there is unlikely to be a deal, unveils a staggering fact – the EU is attempting to annex Northern Ireland.

Considering that the European Union were vocal opponents to Russia annexing Crimea from Ukraine, the bloc would now appear to be doing it itself.

Merkel is reported to have told Johnson that Northern Ireland would have to permanently remain in a customs union and remain in full alignment with the EU.

The EU hit Russia with condemnation and stopped talks on areas including visas and economic development, immediately after the annexation.

So, how am I relating Russia’s actions in Crimea with those of the EU and Northern Ireland? The German’s are now clearly positioning themselves and the EU as appearing prepared to ride roughshod over the Good Friday Agreement, and separate Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom – aligning it with the Republic of Ireland.

Effectively, the EU’s position is now that the Island of Ireland should be re-unified as one country.

A Number 10 source told Sky News; “The call with Merkel showed the EU has adopted a new position.

“She made clear a deal is overwhelmingly unlikely and she thinks the EU has a veto on us leaving the customs union.

“Merkel said that if Germany wanted to leave the EU they could do it no problem, but the UK cannot leave without leaving Northern Ireland behind in a customs union and in full alignment forever.

“She said that Ireland is the government’s special problem and Ireland must at least have a veto on Northern Ireland leaving.

“Merkel said that the prime minister should tell Northern Ireland that it must stay in full alignment forever, but that even this would not eliminate customs issues.

“It was a very useful clarifying moment in all sorts of ways. If this represents a new established position, then it means a deal is essentially impossible not just now but ever.

“It also made clear that they are willing to torpedo the Good Friday Agreement.”

So there you have it.  The European Union are happy to abandon the Good Friday Agreement and annex Northern Ireland from the UK.

When it was foreseen that the EU would go all-out to stop Brexit, I certainly didn’t see them getting into the business of calving up territories.
